The factographic database ARTEFACT makes available research and other data created by the RESCUED laboratory within the project Artefact as a source of knowledge: Rescue and preservation of research data of archaeological finds (ARTEFACT). These results are based on the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, Czech Republic under Grant No. (DH23P03OVV003).

The database consists of an expert analytical description of more than 500 archaeological artefacts, including full documentation – macrophotographs, microphotographs of the surface, wear traces or microresidues, results of analyses of the chemical composition or structure of the material, provenance and 3D analyses. An integral part of each record is also a description of recent damage and contamination, and their impact on the quality of preserved archaeological information. This description can be valuable feedback for conservation and museum workers, which will enable them to make qualified decisions about the extent and method of conservation of archaeological finds, as well as about the possibilities of analyses that should be included even before the planned conservation intervention for new finds.

ArchaeoData is a unified interface for access to information about archaeological artefacts; primarily the outputs of various research projects of FF MU researchers. The ArchaeoData system allows to browse and search these outputs in the form of data and metadata. Individual artefacts are usually represented by a metadata record with descriptive and analytical data and two-dimensional (images) and three-dimensional (3D models) objects. From the system it is possible to navigate to individual platforms with specific browsing and searching options as well as possible special features.

This online database was created in order to present in full the research data of the project “Neolithic figurines in the light of analytical data. Manufacturing technology, traces of the use, patterns of the fragmentation and deposition.” These results are based on the financial support of The Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) under Grant No. 22-28334S. Each ceramic figurine included in our analyses and papers is presented in the form of macrophotos, microphotos of polished-section petrography, pigment and use-wear traces, 3D models and 3D based applications as RTI of fractures and DStretch visualisations of pigments. The goal of this online database is to open our data for further figurine research across the world.
